      Not sure if we can on here, plus the nature of the route (scrambly and rocky) means the GPX can be a little squiffy and part of the fun is weaving your own way up the scrambles, with endless variations! OS Map OL17 or Harvey Maps Snowdonia North SuperWalker XT25 both cover it well. Enjoy!

    Do you have a video where you are fitting it on a classic 32?

    • @Theomm
      @Theomm 6 месяцев назад

      Hi, whilst it is less common to use a Compressor Pod with Classic packs (due to already having the mesh panels) it is still possible. You still start with the UGR at the bottom of the pack then the cord on the Compressor Pod threads through webbing where the existing compression system attaches on the pack sides, allowing you to create the zigzag pattern, same as in the video. So whilst it looks a little different, the concept is exactly the same. Hope this helps! You can always email support@theomm.com for more info

    Amazing! Want to do this next year. Which is the easiest way for a complete beginner? Any shoe recommendations please? Thank you.

    • @Theomm
      @Theomm 7 месяцев назад

      It's a great day out on a beautiful mountain! The easiest way up Helvellyn is probably from the west, starting from Swirls carpark. A clear path leads to the summit from there. You can either go out and back the same way or else make a long loop by descending to Wythburn and back to the car along the forestry tracks. Striding and Swirral Edge are scrambly and exposed but there are a number of alternative options to the really exposed bits. We would definitely recommend getting a bit more experience in the fells before heading up there. Especially if the weather is anything other than clear and calm. We have a list of approved guides and training providers, ideal for skilling up and getting the know-how to explore in safety: theomm.com/training/. Footwear - there's lots of rocky ground so a good rubber compound is important, even more so than deep tread/lugs. Go for whatever is comfortable for you but a slightly stiffer shoe with a bigger rand (toe-bumper) or dedicated climbing edge at the front of the sole will do the trick! Best thing to do is get into a proper running shop with lots of choice and explain what it is you want from the shoe.

    I have this, bought it as it was on offer, but I think it’s a poor design. It may hold 3L, but the problem is that the zip is on the front and doesn’t run the length of the bag, so it’s a fiddle to get things in and out, especially a phone, and I only have an iPhone 6. Anything you put in first can’t be removed without taking the other things out. It’s ok if you want to put a few small things in it, otherwise it’s a no IMO. There are far better waist packs available. Sorry OMM, but I think this needs to go back to the drawing board.

    • @Theomm
      @Theomm Год назад

      Hi Ben, good luck on the Spine CN! Pole carry is down to the individual. Some of us use the side mesh pockets for longer-term carry, others just stick them behind the chest harness or waistbelt for temporary carry whilst on more technical descents. It is also possible to thread a bit of shock cord through the UGR at the base of the pack for a longer-term solution. Find what works for you but don't be afraid to get creative :D

    Can you please describe how to fit this to a Phantom 25? I can't see any plastic loops near the shoulders at the top, and the strap that connects the bottom of the rucksack is different as well. Many thanks, looking forward to hooking them up together and hitting the trail!

    • @Theomm
      @Theomm Год назад

      Hi Lloyd, as the Phantom already has pockets etc up front, it's less common to use with an additional pouch such as the Chest Pod. It is possible to make them fit but it's not quite as easy as with the other pack ranges plus you will find it doesn't quite sit as flush due to the bottle pockets. You can connect the top clips to some of the webbing/fabric tabs at the top of the shoulder straps and for the lower hooks, shorten them and connect to the webbing at the base of the shoulder straps. Hope this helps. Any issues email support@theomm.com or onto our live chat on the website: www.theomm.com

      They work with 500 - 750ml bottles. They will work with soft flasks too, though once you get up to 500ml, they tend to stick out the top and move a little, so 350ml soft flask is better suited.

    Can you use this fabric with a backpack, will it hold up ok?

    • @Theomm
      @Theomm 2 года назад

      No problem to use with a pack, though like any lightweight fabric it will eventually see some abrasion. We'd always recommend regular washing and reproofing to reapply the DWR treatment to high wear areas such as shoulders and anywhere else a pack sits. Washing will also remove salt, oil and airborne dirt that would act to accelerate abrasion beneath the weight of a pack. you can find out more here: theomm.com/faq/product-care-instructions/

      Hot & humid temps will always hamper the breathability of a waterproof membrane as there is not much difference between the inside of the jacket and the outside to drive the vapour through the fabric. So whilst it will stop rain coming in, vapour transfer, from inside to outside, will be slower. This applies to all waterproof membranes but is most noticeable in lighter 2 layer & 2.5 layer fabrics such as these. The Kamleika fabric used in the sleeves and shoulders has a nylon face, making it more durable beneath a pack.
